Venkateswara Temple, Tirumala – Narasimha Theertham

Venkateswara Temple, Tirumala – Narasimha Theertham
Narasimha Theertham is one of the most sacred Theertham in Tirumala. It is located in the heart of the Tirupati Town. The Theertham is also known as ‘Manchineella Gunta’. It is an ancient potable water tank maintained by the Municipal Corporation of Tirupati (MCT). Water from this tank is considered sacred and is, hence, used to fill up Govindaraja Pushkarini and Ramachandra Pushkarini for conduct of rituals like Theppotsavam, Chakrasnanam etc. It is assumed that the water comes from Malwadi Gundam in Tirumala Hills.

An idol of Ranganatha in reclining posture can be found at the banks of the Theertham. This Idol was brought from Sri Rangam to get installed in the present main Govindaraja Swamy temple but during transit got fault so left here. Samadhis of an old couple, who sacrificed life praying god for water for Tirupati people can be found in Pond Bed. Narasimha Theertham is situated at about 1.5 Kms from Tirupati Railway Station, 2 Kms from Tirupati Central Bus Station and 20 Kms from Tirumala Venkateshwara Swamy Temple.
