Venkateswara Temple, Tirumala – Papavinasam Theertham

Venkateswara Temple, Tirumala – Papavinasam Theertham
Papavinasam Theertham is one of the most sacred Theerthams in Tirumala. It is visited by almost every devotee who come to Tirumala to seek blessings of the Lord Venkateswara. This place is called Papa (bad karma) – Vinasam (ward off).

Theertham
This was a natural water falls but arranged in such a way that it flows from a height and from the mouth of lions. Devotees take bath under these flows. There are dressing rooms for changing dresses. There is a small Ganga Mata temple in the enclosure. A dam is constructed at this place to regulate the waters of river Swarnamukhi and to supply water to Tirumala. Entry to the site is restricted.

There are a number of steps to climb down to reach the Theertham. Alongside, the steps are a number of stalls selling various items. On the way to Papavinasanam is this temple of Krishna, run by Hathiramji Mutt. A few steps are there to reach the temple and there are a number of stalls selling various items / eatables and cooldrinks etc. The idol of Krishna is beautiful.
