Ardha Badri, Joshimath – Connectivity

Joshimath is located at about 3 Kms from Vishnu Prayag, 41 Kms from Badrinath, 62 Kms from Nandaprayag, 83 Kms from Karnaprayag, 115 Kms from Rudraprayag, 181 Kms from Devaprayag, 252 Kms from Rishikesh Railway Station, 255 Kms from Rishikesh, 275 Kms from Haridwar, 276 Kms from Haridwar Railway Junction, 270 Kms from Dehradun Airport and 505 Kms from Delhi Airport. Ardha Badri, located on the Joshimath-Tapovan road is in a remote village and can be approached only by trekking along a steep bridle path. On the Joshimath - Tapovan road there is a hilly path that leads to Subhain. The path is very difficult to travel as the steepness is such that it will be out of bounds if you are short on fitness and strength, both physical and mental. Subhain is at a height of 3048 meters.

By Road:

Subhain lies on the motorable road that connects Joshimath to Tapovan. One can find taxis from Joshimath to Subhain. From Subhain there is a bridle trek that leads to Ardha Badri. Joshimath lies on national highway NH58 that connects Delhi with Badrinath and Mana Pass in Uttarakhand near Indo-Tibet border. Therefore, all the buses and vehicles that carry pilgrims from New Delhi to Badrinath via Haridwar and Rishikesh in pilgrim season of summer months pass through Joshimath. Rishikesh is the major starting point for road journey to Joshimath. Regular buses operate from Rishikesh bus station to Joshimath. The road distance from Rishikesh to Joshimath is 255 km via Rudraprayag and Chamoli.

By Train:

Rishikesh railway station is the nearest railhead 252 Km from Joshimath. Haridwar Railway junction, 24 Kms farther from Rishikesh, has train connections to most of the major cities in India. Taxi or jeeps are available to Joshimath from Rishikesh railway station. One can find taxis from Joshimath to Subhain. From Subhain there is a bridle trek that leads to Ardha Badri. 

By Air:
