Legends
Talpagiri Kshetra:
As per
legend, Once, Lord Vishnu decided to visit earth along with his consort Sridevi.
He asked Adisesha to be his abode in earth. Following the order of Lord
Vishnu, Adisesha took the form of a mountain at this
place. Hence, the
place came to be called as Talpagiri Kshetra. Talpa refers to the bed of
the Serpent Adisesha on which Lord Vishnu reclines.
Sage Kashyapa performed
Poundarika Yaga here:
As per
legend, Sage Kashyapa performed Poundarika Yaga at this
place on Ekadasi day. Pleased with his prayers, Lord Vishnu appeared and
blessed him.
Lord Rama’s visit:
It is
believed that Lord Rama visited this
place during his exile. His visit to this
place was mentioned in Aranya Kanda of the epic Ramayana.
Serpent king Phani Raju
worshipped Lord Vishnu here:
The serpent king Phani Raju along with his consort worshipped Lord Vishnu and received blessings from the Lord.
