Vargi Hanuman Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman, located in Puri, a famous pilgrimage town in the state of Odisha, India. This Temple is considered as one of Ashta Mahavira Temples of Puri. The temple is situated on Lokanatha Road towards the west of Jagannatha Temple. The Temple is located at about 200 meters from Puri Jagannatha Temple, 2 Kms from Puri Bus Stand and 3 Kms from Puri Railway Station.
History
In ancient times, Vargis, a Clan from Maharashtra would pass through this way on their horse, creating a disturbance to the temple and the people of Puri. Vargis were ardent devotees of Lord Hanuman. To avoid them entering Puri, a Hanuman idol was installed in Puri at this place. On seeing their beloved god, Vargis were reluctant to pass the temple on their horses. It effectively ended the harassment of Vargis to the temple and locals.

Siddha Mahavir Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Anjaneya, located in Puri, a famous pilgrimage town in the state of Odisha, India. This Temple is considered as one of Ashta Mahavira Temples of Puri. The temple is located in the Siddha Mahavira Patna, in the north eastern outskirt of Puri which can be approached on the right side of the road branching from the Marine drive road near the railway label crossing. The Temple is located at about 2 Kms from Puri Railway Station, 2 Kms from Puri Bus Stand and 4 Kms from Puri Jagannatha Temple.



Legends
It is believed that Hanuman after retirement from active service of Lord Rama desired to settle in this shrine.



History
Puri is noted for the installation of several Hanuman images in the late medieval period in order to arouse the martial spirit of the local people to defend the Jagannatha Temple from the repeated Muslim onslaughts. The Ramananda Sect made arrangement for the installation of Hanuman images in this Kshetra. Hence, there are a series of Hanuman shrines noticed in the different parts of the Kshetra of Jagannatha. Siddha Mahavira is one among them. The Temple was constructed in 16th Century AD by the Gajapati ruler of Odisha. Some of the sculptures in the temples were brought from Konark Sun Temple. Tulasi Das, the famous author of Rama Charita Manasa, stayed here for some time when he visited Puri.

Panchamukhi Hanuman Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Anjaneya, located in Puri, a famous pilgrimage town in the state of Odisha, India. This Temple is considered as one of Ashta Mahavira Temples of Puri. The Temple is situated on the banks of Indradyumna Tank. Devotees can approach the temple on the right side of the road leading from Gundicha temple towards Indradyumna Tank. The Temple is located at about 1.5 Kms from Puri Bus Stand, 2 Kms from Puri Railway Station and 4 Kms from Puri Jagannatha Temple.

The Temple
This is an east facing Temple. Presiding Deity is called as Panchamukhi Hanuman. The deity has five faces; Varaha in north, Narasimha in south, Hanuman in east, Garuda in west and Hayagriva in top. The image has ten hands, holding Sankha, trident, Khatwanga, pasa, ankusa, hillock, dhuma, musthi, mace and snake. He is standing over the demon.

Bedi Hanuman Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Anjaneya, located in Puri, a famous pilgrimage town in the state of Odisha, India. The Temple is also called as Daria Hanuman Temple. This Temple is considered as one of Ashta Mahavira Temples of Puri. The temple is located on the left side of the Chakra Tirtha road leading from Subash Bose Chowk to Penthakota. The Temple is located at about 1.5 Kms from Puri Railway Station, 3 Kms from Puri Bus Stand and 4 Kms from Puri Jagannatha Temple.

Legends
Lord Jagannatha engaged Hanuman to protect Puri Dham from his Father-in-Low Ocean. He was entering Puri often to meet her daughter Lakshmi and him.  People of Puri suffered a lot because of his frequent intrusion. Thus, Lord Hanuman was posted by Jagannatha to guard Puri in this place and ensure that Ocean waves would never enter Puri. However, Lord Hanuman left the place once, without informing Lord Jagannatha to visit Ayodhya.
In his absence, the ocean entered Puri and people suffered a lot due to the sudden intrusion of ocean. Lord Jagannatha brought Hanuman back from Ayodhya and bound him with the rope or Bedi, ordered him to never leave this place and do his duty properly. Hence, he came to be called as Bedi Hanuman. Hanuman left this place as he was fed with Khichadi prasadam only.
He wanted to taste delicious food, so he secretly visited Ayodhya at night. After this incident, Lord Jagannath ordered his servants to feed Lord Hanuman with special Mahaprasada daily.  Even today, Special Laddus are offered to Lord Hanuman in this temple. Since, Hanuman is located very close to the Ocean (Daria). He is also called as Daria Hanuman.
History
The Temple was built in 15th Century CE by Suryavamsi Gajapati Kings.

The Temple
The temple is facing towards east. The temple has a pidha vimana and a modern rectangular Jagamohana of Kalingan order. It is a living temple. The vimana is square in plan. The temple is Panchangabada in elevation. Presiding Deity is called as Bedi Hanuman / Daria Hanuman. He is housed in the sanctum. The presiding deity is a two-armed Hanuman, holding a Laddu in left hand a gada in his right hand.

The Parsvadevta niches of western raha houses the images of Anjana holding a baby in her lap and the deity is seated in Lalitasana over a lotus pedestal. The deity is crowned with karandamukuta. The northern niche houses a female divinities over a decorated pedestal and the southern niches houses the image of Ganesha.

Festivals
Pana Sankranti, Hanuman Jayanti and Rama Navami are observed in this temple.
