Mahadev Temple, Deobaloda – Legends

Mahadev Temple, Deobaloda – Legends
Kund & Pond:
As per legend, the sculptor who was building the temple got so much engrossed in his work that he didn’t care about his clothes. He became naked while continuing to work day and night to complete the temple. His wife used to bring food for him, but one day his sister came. Both of them were embarrassed when the sculptor saw her sister in front. The sculptor jumped into the Kund (holy pond inside the temple complex) from the top of the temple. On seeing the sculptor jumped into the Kund, his sister jumped into the adjacent pond. Even today, both the tank and the pond are present.
As the sculptor left it unfinished and therefore its dome could not be built. The pond is called as Kasara Talab because the sister was believed to be carrying the Kalasha for water. The rock-cut Kalash type stone in the center of the pond is still present. The locals believe that there is a secret tunnel inside the Kund that leads to a temple in Arang. When the sculptor jumped into this pool, he found the tunnel and with the help of it he reached the Arang directly. It is said that after reaching the orang, he became stone and even today that stone statue is present there.
6 Maasi Temple:
It is said that this temple was built in just 6 months and that is why it is also called 6 Maashi (Maasi or Masi, in English - Months) temple.
