Ganga Mata Matha is a Hindu religious monastery, located in Puri, a famous pilgrimage town in the state of Odisha, India. This Matha belongs to the Gaudiya sect The Matha is located on the southern embankment of Sweta Ganga tank in Bali Sahi, Puri. The Matha is located at about 500 meters from Puri Jagannatha Temple, 2 Kms from Puri Bus Stand and 3 Kms from Puri Railway Station. It is situated on the right side of Bali Sahi road, leading from Simhadvara to Svargadvara.

History
The Temple was constructed in 16th Century CE during the time of Mukundadeva of Suryavamsi Gajapati Dynasty.


The Matha
This Matha is a double storied monastery belongs to the Gaudiya sect. Though it is a living monastery only a portion of Matha is used for monastic activities and the rest are in dilapidated condition. The matha is facing towards north. The matha has a central courtyard surrounded by pillared verandah on the eastern, southern and western sides which leads to the living rooms. The Matha covers an area of about 2.5 acres.


This Matha houses the Lord Krishna and his consort Radha. There are about 80 rooms in total. Out of 85, 65 rooms are in dilapidated and abandoned and the remaining 15 are used for various rituals and monastic activities. The eastern side pillared verandah of the central courtyard is decorated with wall paintings of Krishna Lila scenes and paintings from ancient epics. Paintings of Ramabhiseka, Narasimha, Gopala, six-armed Chaitanya, Jagannath, Balabhadra and Subhadra in separate panels, Kaliyadalana, Yasoda can be seen.


The doorjambs are carved with four sakhas- puspa, patra, naga and nara from exterior to interior; Gajalakshmi seated in padmasana in the lalatabimba and the pidhamundi niches house with Vaishnavite dvarapalas at the base. A square mandapa on the north eastern corner has five-fold divisions in elevation like a temple bada, in which amorous couples are carved in all the four sides in the upara jangha. A makara torana is placed at the center of the mandapa.


Festivals
Dola Purnima, Janmashtami and Lalita Saptami are observed here. During the car festival offerings are sent to Lord Jagannath.
