Rudranath Temple, Chamoli – Trekking & Connectivity
Rudranath trek is the toughest trek to reach as compared to other Panch Kedar dham of Lord Shiva. Most trekking routes to Rudranath are from Gopeshwar or nearby places. Gopeshwar is located at about 19 Kms from Nandaprayag, 40 Kms from Karnaprayag, 209 Kms from Rishikesh Railway Station, 236 Kms from Ramnagar Railway Station and 226 Kms from Dehradun Airport.
Trek Route 1:
A motorable road is present up to the village Sagar, 5 Kms from Gopeshwar. Decent Lodgings are available in Sagar. Further, 20 Kms trek is required from Sagar to reach Rudranath Temple. The trek winds through tall grass, oak and rhododendron forests. The trek path is often found to be slippery.
Trek Route 2:
An uphill 17 Kms trek from Gangol Gaon, 3 Kms from Gopeshwar - through the forest and Panar and Naila shepherd settlements.
Trek Route 3:
Another trek route from Gopeshwar to Rudranath passes via Mandal (13 Kms) and then additional 6 Kms to the Anusuya Devi Temple and then another 20 Kms to Rudranath. The Anusuya Devi temple is home to goddess Anusuya, who is believed to help devotees in distress.
Trek Route 4:
A 45 Kms trek path is available from Joshimath via Helang. It is considered a strenuous trek).
Trek Route 5:
There's also a trekking route to Rudranath from Kalpeshwar, via Dumak, Kalgont Kimana and Palla. The route meets at Urgam village, a little ahead of Kalpeshwar.
