Umra Narayan Temple, Rudraprayag, Uttarakhand
Umra Narayan Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord
Vishnu, located very close to Rudraprayag Town in Rudraprayag district, in the Indian state of Uttarakhand.
The Temple is situated on the banks of Alaknanda River. This temple was
believed to be built by Adi Shankaracharya when
he was on his way to Badri Dham. The Temple houses idols of Lakshmi
Narayana, Lord Shiva and infant Krishna in the Temple premises.
It is said that in the year 1958, the golden crown and
canopy (chhatra) were stolen. There is a mandap, housing two footmarks
made on a stone. The Temple is located at about 6 Kms from Rudraprayag Bus
Stand, 7 Kms from Rudraprayag, 38 Kms from Karnaprayag, 48 Kms from Ukhimath,
145 Kms from Rishikesh Railway Station, 162 Kms from Dehradun Airport and 391
Kms from New Delhi Airport.
