Bhuvaneswari Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Goddess Sakthi located in Guwahati City in Kamrup District of Assam, India. The Temple is located atop the Nilachal Hills, a bit higher than the famous Kamakhya Temple. It is one of the prominent Hindu Temples in Guwahati.



Legends
According to Hindu Mythology, Goddess Bhuvaneswari is the fourth of the ten Mahavidya goddesses and an aspect of Sakthi. She is the queen or the feminine ruler of the universe. The entire Universe is said to be her body and all beings are her ornaments.



The Temple
The temple is dedicated to Goddess Bhubaneswari or Bhuvaneswari. The stone structure is quite similar to the Kamakhya Temple. One will also get a panoramic view of the city and the Brahmaputra River from the Bhuvaneswari Temple.



Festivals
The temple also attracts a large number of devotees and tourists from around the world during Ambubachi and Manasha Puja. Like the Kamakhya Temple, the Ambubachi Fair happens here also on a significant extensive scale because this temple too is committed to Goddess Durga.
