Gayatri Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Goddess Gayatri, consort of Lord Brahma, located in Pushkar Town near Ajmer in Rajasthan State, India. The Temple is situated on a hill near Pushkar Brahma Temple.





Legends
Hill Temples for Lord Brahma consorts:
Brahma's two consorts Savitri and Gayatri have separate temples erected for them in Pushkar, but on hills at opposite ends of the lake. The first consort Savitri, who cursed Brahma, is described to be still seating annoyed and enraged in her shrine on the highest hill in Pushkar, while Gayatri afraid of Savitri’s wrath sits at a lower hill at the other end, the eastern side of the lake.
Pushkar:
According to Hindu mythology, the gods released a swan with a lotus in its beak from the Swarga or heaven. The place where the swan would drop the lotus would be the place where Lord Brahma would perform a grand yagna. Pushkar was that place, and it came to be called Pushkar ever since.
Gayathri:
Goddess Gayatri is the consort of Lord Brahma and is said to have stood by him while he performed the yajna at Pushkar. Goddess Gayatri was said to have been an untouchable. Legend says that to purify her she was put into the mouth of a cow and taken out from the other end.
The Temple
The Temple is situated on a hill near Pushkar Brahma Temple. It is a small temple. The Sanctum houses the idol of Gayatri along with Lord Brahma. Breathtaking views of Pushkar can be seen from the Temple. Devotees need to trek to reach this hill top temple.

The Temple is located at about 2 Kms from Pushkar Lake, 2 Kms from Pushkar Brahma Temple, 2 Kms from Pushkar Railway Station, 2 Kms from Pushkar Bus Station, 15 Kms from Ajmer Bus Stand, 15 Kms from Ajmer Railway Junction, 16 Kms from Ajmer, 44 Kms from Kishangarh, 46 Kms from Kishangarh Airport, 151 Kms from Jaipur and 154 Kms from Jaipur Airport. Pushkar is situated in centre-east part of Rajasthan, on the western side of Aravalli mountains. Pushkar is about 14 Kms from Ajmer, connected via Pushkar road (Highway 58) which goes over the Aravalli Range mountains. Pushkar has its own railway station. Ajmer is also the nearest major railway station. Nearest Airports are located in Kishangarh and Jaipur.
