Mahendragiri – Connectivity
Mahendragiri is located at
about 4 Kms from Burakhat, 9 Kms from Kainpur, 39 Kms from Palasa, 46 Kms from
Palasa Railway Station, 51 Kms from Ichapuram, 51 Kms from Paralakhemundi, 79
Kms from Brahmapur, 97 Kms from Chatrapur, 104 Kms from Ganjam, 229 Kms from Visakhapatnam
Airport, 236 Kms from Visakhapatnam, 245 Kms from Bhubaneswar Airport and 245
Kms from Bhubaneswar.
Mahendragiri is approachable
from Brahmapur by three routes;
1. The first route,
the route currently in use, is up to Paralakhemundi from Brahmapur via Ichapuram.
2. The second route is from
Brahmapur to Paralakhemundi via R.Udayagiri
3. The third route is from
Brahmapur via Ichapuram – Jarada – Paralakhemundi.
To go to Mahendragiri one has
to go to Paralakhemundi. There are many buses available to Paralakhemundi from
Palasa also. From Paralakhemundi one can travel by bus up to Kainpur and then hire
Jeep to reach Burakhat. From Burakhat to Mahendragiri Hill top, it is off
beaten road where people can trek or hire a all weather Jeep to reach the top
of the hills.
