The festival is for ten days and starts with the flag hoisting ceremony and
will be concluded with the 'Aarrattu' on the tenth day of Thiruvonam.
There is a temple festival in the month of Makaram.
Possibly because the tragedy that happened here, just before God is taken in
procession, one employee asks three times “Is there anybody here from
Varayannakudi family?’ and the God is brought out only if there is firm no for
answer. Makara Samkramam day is the most important day for the people of this
village. On this day about six or seven hundred devotees with Kavadi on their
shoulders come to Puliyoor Temple before noon. This Festival was started about
30 years back. This Kavadi is brought from Pazhayathu Devi Temple till
this temple.
Every year Sapthaham is conducted from Malayalam month
Medam 13th (Usually it falls on April 26th) for Seven
days. Annadhanam is offered here for all devotees who come here for listening
to the Bhagavatha recitation. During the festival days there will be programmes
of major artists of variety entertainment. During these days Sreebali is conducted
on caparisoned elephants. Thousands of people throng here to watch the Sreebali
and also the cultural and artistic performances.
